'Wat krijgen we nu op het podium?'
'Dat is Def P met een jazztrio' zegt een rapfan.
'Het Bas van Lier-trio en Die Ene Rapper' zullen jazzliefhebbers eerder zeggen.
Dit laatste, simpelweg afgekort tot BLenDER, staat ook eigenlijk
precies voor wat deze combinatie brengt op de planken: Een energiek
mengsel van jazz en rap.
Al vele malen hebben de heren deze combinatie zonder voorbereiding live op het podium 'in de blender' gegooid en de shake die daar uit kwam vloeide zo natuurlijk dat rap of jazzfan, man of vrouw, jong of oud hier allen zeer aangenaam door verrast werden.

'De spontane manier waarop muziek en tekst samenvallen maakt het
eigenlijk pure jazz' zegt Bas van Lier. 'Iedereen is zo goed op elkaar ingespeeld dat het klinkt alsof de muziek en de raps altijd al bij elkaar gehoord hebben' zegt Def P.

“The Bas van Lier trio and “Die Ene Rapper” (What-Is-His-Face Rapper)” is what you’ll likely hear a jazz fan say.

Shortened “BLenDER, it actually captures exactly what one can expect to hear coming from the stage: an energetic combination of jazz and rap.

Live and without preparation these gentlemen have many times in the past “tossed these ingredients in the blender”. The “shake” that came out of the mix as a result, flowed so naturally, that anyone; rap fan or jazz fan, man or woman, young or old were pleasantly surprised.

The spontaneous manner in which music and text fall together in effect makes is pure jazz, really” says Bas van Lier. “Everyone is so well practiced together that it appears as if the music and the raps have always coexisted” says Def P.
